Drug title
Duricef (Cefadroxil)
Usage indications
Duricef is used in the treatment of infections caused by certain bacteria.
Mode of application
You should Duricef only as directed by your doctor. Make sure to check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
Duricef is taken by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
In order to clear up your infection completely, take Duricef for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
If you miss a dose of Duricef, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Mechanism of action
Duricef belongs to cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by interfering with the bacteria's cell wall formation. This weakens the cell wall, causing it to rupture, resulting in death of the bacteria.
Overdose
In case of serious and persistent seizures, allergic reaction (hives, rash, swelling of face and tongue, vaginal itching), diarrhea or kidney failure consult your doctor.
Storage
Duricef is stored at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.
