Avodart (Dutasteride)

Usage indications

Avodart is used for the treatment of prostate innocent hyperplasia symptoms or increased prostate symptoms. Moreover it helps to decrease the risk of urination blocking and the necessity of prostate surgery. It can be used in combination with other drugs such as tamsuzolin.

Application mode

Use Avodart in accordance with your doctor indications.

• Take Avodart with or without food.
• Fully swallow Avodart. Do not break it and do not chew it before swallowing.
• the action of Avodart might occur from 3 till 6 months.

Drug class and mechanism of action

Avodart is 5th alfa reductaze ferment. It works by decreasing dihydrotestosterone (DHT)level which is the main reason of prostate growth. The decrease of DHT level causes the prostate growth.

Missed doses

Take Avapro as soon as possible if you missed its intake. If it happened during next dosage intake time take missed dose and then follow intake schedule. The intake of two pills in one day is prohibited.

Storage

Store Avodart at the temperature of 68-77 F degrees (20- 25 С degrees) in a tightly closed container. Keep away from the sources of heat, humidity and light. Do not store at the bathroom. Do not take Avodart after its expiration term, specified on the label. Keep Avodart away from children and pets.

Warnings/ precautions

Do not use Avodart if:

• you are allergic to any of Avodart component  or other 5th alfa reductaze ferments such as finasterid;
• you are pregnant or of fertility age.

Contact with your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following relates to you.

Important:

• Avodart gets absorbed by the skin.  Pregnant women or  women suspect of being pregnant should not take broken pills as it can harm foeutus. If case of contact with broken zone the zone of contact should be washed with water and soap. Consult with your doctor in case of such situation.
• Avodart stays in blood within 4-6 months after Avodart intake stop. Do not make blood test within 6 months after Avodart last dose intake in order to prevent the influence over pregnant woman via blood transfusion.
• Avodart can decrease the amount of ejaculation. This will not interfere with sexual function.
• Avodart can influence blood test results for prostate specific antigen (PSA) for  prostate cancer screening. Be sure to pass PSA test in case if you have prostate cancer and inform your doctor about Avodart intake.
• Laboratory tests might be conducted  for your treatment progress assessment and side effects revealing. Mind keeping laboratory tests and your doctor prescriptions.
• Avodart intake is not recommended for children as its safety and efficiency had not been confirmed in this case.

Pregnancy and breast feeding: Avodart can harm foeutus. Do not use Svodart if you are pregnant. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect of being pregnant. Avodart discharge with mother milk had not been studied. Do not do breast feeding during dutasteride intake.

Possible side effects

Consult with your doctor if any of the most widespread side effects persist or irritates:

• breast increase or sickliness, sexual desire decrease, ejaculation amount decrease, erection incapacity.

Inform your doctor at once if any of the following serious side effects

• heavy allergic reactions (rash, nettle rash, breathing difficulties, chest constraints, mouth, face, lips or tongue edema).

Additional information

Avodart should be taken on doctor’s prescription only. Do not share it with other people. Consult with your doctor in case of symptoms non-improvement or getting worse.
